Frequently Asked Questions

How did four men come up with the idea of an intelligent cot?

The original brief was to design a domestic product for intelligent home network systems. While we were thinking of things around the house that needed monitoring, a baby monitor instantly came to mind and seemed the obvious choice.

As the idea developed, we realised how much potential there was for adding other useful features into a child's cot.

What makes it so intelligent?

The intelligent cot contains several clever enhancements that improve safety and ease of use. Please see the features page for more information.

Where can I buy one? How much does it cost?

The Cencio intelligent cot is still under development at the moment.

Initial production of the intelligent cot is likely to be limited. Please see the order page to register your interest.

How safe is it?

The intelligent cot will undergo rigorous testing by intellicot and a 3rd party to ensure it is perfectly safe. Each new feature must be subjected to a full risk assement so that there is absolutely no danger to baby or parent.

Does the intelligent cot prevent cot death?

No. The causes of cot death are still unknown and therefore it is not possible to invent something that will prevent it.

Following some simple guidelines may help reduce the chance of cot death. Visit The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths website here for advice.

Does the cot monitor the childs heart-rate or breathing?

No. There is no evidence to suggest that these kinds of baby monitors prevent cot death.

It is perfectly natural for a baby to stop breathing occasionally for a few seconds, which would give rise to many false alarms and cause the parents even more unnecessary anxienty.
